Lindsey Clarke reports from LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 8th to Sunday 14th February 2016.
Lough Melvin was quiet this week again and conditions in the earlier part of the week were not favourable. Friday, Saturday and Sunday gave lovely settled conditions. There has been no word of any salmon caught to date. On Wednesday, Stephen Kennedy landed and released a fine 5lb trout in the Rossinver waters. The trout season will get underway on Monday the 15th although the trout angling is normally slow to pick up. Most rods out at this time of year are targeting the 1st Melvin salmon of the season.
